Jonathan specializes in the area of trademark law. His practice includes providing practical guidance on selecting and protecting new marks, filing and prosecuting applications, and representing clients in opposition, cancellation and infringement proceedings. He manages the Canadian trademark portfolios of both large Canadian companies and brand owners from outside the country, including in the fields of medical devices, personal care products, computer hardware and software, and restaurant services.
Jonathan is a fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and a member of its Trademark Practices Committee. He is also a member of the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Trademark Office Practices Committee and is the chair of the Canadian subcommittee of INTA’s Famous & Well-known Marks Committee. Jonathan has recently been ranked by Who’s Who Legal: Trademarks 2016 for trademark filing and registration.
