Louis-Pierre Gravelle is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP, and a member of the Electrical & Computer Technology practice group. He is a recognized leading professional in the high-tech and artificial intelligence areas. Louis-Pierre’s practice focuses on patent and technology law, particularly obtaining and leveraging intellectual property rights for startups, SMEs and large companies to support them in their commercial growth and business success.
Being fully bilingual, he has counseled Canadian and international clients for over 25 years. Louis-Pierre has prosecuted applications in the fields of artificial intelligence, telecommunication systems, wireless communication, controls systems, electronic circuits for various applications, digital signal processing, optics, robotics, power systems and power electronics, computer networks, integrated circuits, computer software, business methods, social networks and other technologies.
As part of his IP management practice, Louis-Pierre helps clients increase their knowledge of their competitors by developing and analyzing business intelligence related to their own and their competitors' IP portfolios. This information can be used to identify opportunities to block their competitor's technologies, license technology in or out, and to manage risks associated with third party IP rights.
Louis-Pierre is a firm believer in giving back to the community and as such has vigorously promoted the importance of the protection, and respect, of intellectual property rights for businesses of all sizes. This has led to his involvement with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) going back at least 12 years as well as the Fédération internationale des conseils en propriété intellectuelle (FICPI), for the past 6 years. Louis-Pierre serves as President and Chair of the board for the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC).
Prior to joining Bereskin & Parr, Louis-Pierre was a partner in another prominent Montréal-based IP firm.
