Laura MacDonald is an associate at Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the litigation practice group. Her practice focuses on litigation in all areas of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyright and confidential information.
Laura graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law with a specialization in Law and Technology. While attending law school, Laura won the 2015 Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot and the 2016 Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot. Laura ranked as second best Oralist nationally and received an award for top 6th Oral Advocate internationally.
Laura gained significant trial experience while articling, working on a number of complex patent cases. Laura also has experience in trademark and copyright litigation in the Federal Court and Ontario Superior Court.
Laura graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours program with particular interest in biochemistry and immunology. There Laura conducted research on key bacterial protein interactions in multi-drug-resistant pathogens, contributing to development of novel therapeutic interventions.
Prior to being admitted to the Bar, Laura was an articling student and a summer student with the firm.
