Ellen is an articling student with Bereskin & Parr LLP. Her practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution in the mechanical and industrial sectors, as well as automotive, cleantech, medical devices, and oil and gas.
Ellen graduated from the Juris Doctor program at Western University and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. While at Western University, Ellen was a Senior Clinic Fellow at the Western Intellectual Property & Innovation Legal Clinic and an executive of the Western Women in Law organization.
Before joining Bereskin & Parr, Ellen worked on mechanical patent prosecution teams at a law firm in Montreal and an IP boutique in Paris. She also helped a Danish startup to develop their IP strategy.
During her academic career, Ellen won several awards and scholarships including the Ontario Expropriation Association Bursary (2022) for a law school essay on expropriation, the GHL Consultants 4th Year Fire Safety Engineering Award (2019) for excellence in the Fire Safety Engineering course at the University of Waterloo, and was on the Dean’s Honours List (2018) at the University of Waterloo.
Prior to being an articling student, Ellen was a summer student with the firm.
