Bereskin & Parr Welcomes Associate Alissa Hyppolite

Alissa Hyppolite is an associate with Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the Life Sciences group. Her practice includes all aspects of patent drafting and prosecution with a focus in biotechnology.

Alissa graduated from the Juris Doctor program at the University of Ottawa with a specialization in law and technology. She also completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa, during which she performed an honours research project investigating the genetic diversity of microsporidian honeybee pathogens.

During law school, Alissa participated in a number of internships focused on intellectual property. She worked as an intern for the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), specifically the Trademark Opposition Board, where she drafted section 45 decisions. She also worked as an intern with Global Affairs Canada, where she researched the implications of 3D printing on intellectual property rights. She also worked as a student policy analyst at CIPO, researching and drafting practice notices and portions of the Trademarks Examination Manual.

Prior to being admitted to the Bar, Alissa was both a summer student and articling student with the firm.
