Bereskin & Parr LLP, a leading Canadian IP law firm, is pleased to announce Stephen Beney as new Managing Partner and Chair of the firm's Executive Committee. He is also head of the Mississauga office and leads the Medical Devices practice group.

Stephen succeeds Micheline Gravelle who recently stepped down after six years in this leadership role.

"I am very excited about this new role as Managing Partner," said Stephen. "Bereskin & Parr is a firm where our core values of excellence, mutual respect, fairness and teamwork set us apart, and I will be building on that foundation to grow the firm and its reputation as the preeminent IP firm in Canada. I would like to thank Micheline for her hard work and excellent guidance as Managing Partner for the past six years. She has done great work as Managing Partner, and has been a role model for this position."

Stephen has been very active in the intellectual property community, and in 2016 he was elected President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) at its 90th Annual Meeting. Prior to that, he spend two years on IPIC Council as a Councillor before being elected to the Executive Council of IPIC in 2014 as Secretary, and in 2015 as Vice President.

Stephen has authored and co-authored many articles on patent law. He has also spoken on patent law at seminars and conferences in Canada, Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Joining Stephen on the firm's Executive Committee is newly elected Janice Bereskin, partner and a co-leader of the firm’s Trademarks practice group.

"Janice is a world leader in trademark law, and it's great to have her join the Executive Committee," said Stephen. "She brings a different perspective and dynamic. Janice is very practical and down-to-earth when it comes to making important recommendations. We are fortunate to have Janice on board, and I look forward to working with her."
