Patricia FolkinsB.Sc., Ph.D. (Chem.)Patricia is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP and head of the firm’s Chemical practice group. Patricia’s practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical matters. She also assesses new technology and conducts portfolio management. Patricia completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University before joining a leading biopharmaceutical company where she spent several years as a research scientist and then as a technical advisor in their patent department. Patricia also previously worked at a prominent Canadian university as a Manager of Intellectual Property. Patricia has co-authored several articles that have appeared in scientific journals including The Journal of Organic Chemistry, The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and Tetrahedron Letters. She has also given presentations on intellectual property matters in general, and on issues specific to chemical and pharmaceutical patenting.
