Maya’s practice focuses on high technology patents with an emphasis on
computer related technology, as well as licensing, research and
development, new media and copyright matters. Maya works with a wide
range of technologies, including:

  • mobile communications
  • 3D applications
  • text and speech processing
  • telecommunications

While obtaining her undergraduate degree, Maya gained valuable industry
experience working for a technology start-up company.


Maya holds an honours B.Sc. in computer science and mathematics from
the University of Toronto and graduated with highest distinction. She also
holds a law degree from the University of Victoria, where she won an award
for contract law. While completing her law degree, Maya attended the
International Intellectual Property program at the University of Oxford, where
she studied Canadian, European, and American patent and copyright law.
Maya is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s (IPIC)
Litigation Committee. Maya is also on the executive of the Toronto
Intellectual Property Group (TIPG), and she is a member of the Intellectual
Property Owners Association (IPO) Software and Business Methods Committee.
