Isi (pr. “Izzy”) Caulder is a partner and patent and trademark agent with Bereskin & Parr LLP. She is an active member of the Electrical & Computer and Mechanical & Industrial Processes practice groups and Head of the Cleantech practice group.
Isi's practice focuses primarily on helping high technology clients secure and license patent rights for a wide variety of electrical, computer and mechanical related inventions including video image processing software, video streaming technology, audio signal processing hardware, satellite spaceflight hardware, satellite data processing technology, wireless communications hardware and software, data encryption and compression software, integrated circuit devices, biometric devices, wearable technology, solar power equipment, wind power equipment, wireless sensor networks for environmental applications, carbon monitoring technology, and electronic consumer products. She also works with clients to obtain and license trademarks, copyrights and industrial designs and advises on strategic intellectual property portfolio development and management.
Prior to attending law school at University of Toronto, Isi graduated with honours from U of T’s Engineering Science program (Electrical Option), obtained a Master’s degree in the field of algebraic control systems and worked briefly in the power engineering and telecommunications fields. While in law school, Isi was awarded the McCarthy, Tetrault Prize for academic excellence and the Bereskin & Parr Prize in Intellectual Property.
Isi was recently awarded the University of Toronto 2015 Arbor Award for her tremendous generosity and contribution to the experience of U of T students, faculty, staff and alumni.
