Tim Sinnott is a partner with Bereskin & Parr, and heads the firm's Waterloo region office.
Tim is a barrister and solicitor, and a registered patent and trade mark agent in Canada and the United States, He is a certified specialist in intellectual property law (patents, trade marks and copyright) with the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Tim has a broad range of practice with expertise in providing strategic intellectual property advice to a wide variety of clients. Tim's practice includes preparing and prosecuting patent, trade mark, copyright and industrial design applications, and litigating and licensing intellectual property rights. He has a special interest in securing patent protection for mechanical and software inventions, and conducting patent validity and infringement studies. Tim was the only IP practitioner listed for Southwestern Ontario in the 2005 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
Tim also has expertise in providing trade mark registrability and infringement opinions, representing parties in trademark opposition and summary expungement proceedings, and protecting and enforcing official marks for public authorities.
