Profile

Robert MacFarlane is a partner with Bereskin & Parr and head of the firm's litigation practice group.

Robert is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States and a registered trade mark agent in Canada. He has practiced litigation in patent, trade mark, copyright and confidential information cases for almost thirty years. He has appeared in the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada and before numerous administrative tribunals.

Robert is consistently recognized as a leading IP litigator in publications such as The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and PLC Which lawyer? 2006. In 2007, The International Who’s Who of Patent Lawyers, named Robert as one of four top patent lawyers in Canada. Robert was also selected to appear in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of IP law.

He is an author of a number of published articles and of a chapter in the book Intellectual Property Disputes: Resolutions & Remedies, Volume 2, published by Thomson Carswell.
