Richard Parr is a founding partner of Bereskin & Parr.
Richard earned a B.Sc. in engineering physics (electronics) at the University of Toronto, standing second in his class. He continued his studies at the University of Toronto, graduating from law school as a Gold Medallist in 1962.
Richard has been a registered patent and trade mark agent in both Canada and the United States for over 35 years. Richard is widely recognized as a leading expert in patent and trade mark law, with particular expertise in the fields of electronics and physics. One of the patents which Richard wrote resulted recently in a C$75 million judgment to its owner. Richard has developed a wide based clientele, ranging from individuals to multinational corporations and dealing with issues ranging from obtaining and licensing trade marks in the entertainment and theatrical fields to dealing with complex computer, electronic, control system, microwave and instrumentation technology. Richard has vast experience in advising his clients with respect to all aspects of IP rights, including ownership and acquisition issues, protection, and licensing.
