Profile
Patricia Folkins is a partner with Bereskin & Parr and works out of the firm's Mississauga office. She is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States.
Patricia obtained her B.Sc. Honours from Dalhousie University in 1987 and her Ph.D. in chemistry from McGill University in 1991. Patricia completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University before joining a leading biopharmaceutical company where she spent several years as a research scientist and two and a half years as a technical advisor in the patent department. Patricia most recently worked at a prominent Canadian university as a Manager of Intellectual Property.
Patricia has co-authored several articles that have appeared in scientific journals including, “The Journal of Organic Chemistry, The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry” and “Tetrahedron Letters”. She has also given presentations on intellectual property matters in general and on issues specific to chemical and pharmaceutical patenting.
Patricia prepares and prosecutes patent applications in chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical matters with our biotechnology and pharmaceutical practice group.
