Profile
Michael Charles is a partner with Bereskin & Parr. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1989, and is a registered Patent Agent in both Canada and the United States. His practice focuses on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent, trade mark, copyright, breach of confidence, and trade secret litigation. He has appeared as trial and appellate counsel on numerous occasions in the Federal Court and the Ontario Court.
While attending law school, Michael was a member of the University of Western Ontario's Law Review, and received the Harold G. Fox Award. Michael obtained a B.Eng.Sci. in chemical engineering with honours from the University of Western Ontario in 1984.
Michael is a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, and has served on the Institute's Litigation and Alternate Dispute Resolution Committees. He has served, by invitation, on the Federal Court's Intellectual Property Consultative Group. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
