Profile

Jason Hynes is an associate lawyer with Bereskin & Parr and works out of the firm's Waterloo office. He is a registered Canadian and U.S. patent agent.

Jason earned a B.A.Sc. with distinction in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo and a law degree with distinction from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to joining Bereskin & Parr, Jason gained valuable industry experience in patent preparation and litigation as well as technical and legal research while working for a global provider of wireless solutions for the mobile communications market. Jason also gained experience in mechanical design and manufacturing engineering while completing his undergraduate co-op terms.

Jason has a strong interest in working with young high tech entrepreneurs and start-ups. He is a contributor to WatStart, an online support tool for the creation and development of startup technology companies in the Waterloo region, and is also a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada's IT Committee. His patent practice focuses on mechanical, telecommunications and software/information technology innovations. Jason is also available to assist clients in trade mark, copyright, trade secret and related licensing matters.

Jason is conversant in French.
