Profile

Ian McMIllan is a partner with Bereskin & Parr.

Ian attended Queen’s University where he received a B.Sc. in mathematics and engineering in 1990. He then attended the University of Toronto where he received his law degree in 1993. Ian articled with Bereskin & Parr and then moved to work at a firm in Vancouver for the next three years, during which time he became a registered patent agent before both the Canadian Patent Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Since 1998, Ian has practiced with an intellectual property firm in Toronto. In 2000, Ian took a sabbatical to obtain an LL.M. from the University of Toronto.

Ian is a member of both Bereskin & Parr’s mechanical, and software/high technology groups. He has practiced in all aspects of intellectual property, but has particular expertise in obtaining patent protection for inventions in the mechanical and computer software fields.
